What is dive profile?

A dive profile is a record of the depth and time of a diver's breathing gas consumption during a dive. This information is typically recorded on a diving computer or dive watch and forms the basis of decompression planning. The profile serves to monitor the diver's depth and the time they are at that depth and is used to calculate the risk of decompression sickness (DCS) that can occur if a diver ascends too quickly. A dive profile can also be used to track a diver's air consumption, allowing them to plan how much air they will need for future dives. Additionally, the profile data can be used to analyze the dive and identify areas where improvements can be made to increase safety or optimize dive performance.
